Claire Coolen
Opera Singer
New York City, United States
We first met Claire at Lincoln Center on a beautiful October evening. A cup of coffee then a walk through Central Park, as crowds prepared for the New York City marathon, overcoming the hustle and bustle Claire’s vivacious personality was electrifying and will brighten and inspire our life for years to come. A month passed when Claire came to our studio in Nova Scotia where we began sculpting her. On that day Clair blessed us with a private concert that we captured forever in our Portrait of Claire.
Josrph Landry & Brian Gazeley
Internationally acclaimed artists Joseph Landry and Brian Gazeley created the sculpture of George Washington known as “Cornerstone of the Nation” at their studio in Nova Scotia, Canada, to celebrate the opening of the new Ford Orientation Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at Mount Vernon. No two pieces are exactly alike – each possesses its own individual character and were sculpted and finished at President Washington’s home, Mount Vernon, based on the designs from Nova Scotia. Accustomed to creating artworks in pewter, stone, terra cotta, silver and bronze, Landry and Gazeley have received special commissions from royal families, religious leaders, government officials, and Hollywood luminaries. Among their most remarkable pieces have been unique sculptures commissioned to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rose Kennedy and the 99th birthday of the Queen Mother. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has a pair of their bronzes at her home in Canada; Saint Peter’s Church in New York City has a bust in its collection created from reconstituted remains of the World Trade Center. The diversity of their subjects has been remarkable, ranging from Abraham Lincoln to Princess Grace of Monaco, to Katharine Hepburn. Over a period of some 15 years, Landry and Gazeley have also mounted several theatrical productions, written and produced original songs, and created homes for a long list of endangered species.
